Archaeology for All – via Zoom

This programme replicates the indoor session of our highly successful Archaeology for All programme in your school. Using unique resources made possible through Heritage and Lottery funding, one of our expert team will talk you through this engaging 90 minute session.

Session

The session starts with an overview of the River Thames looking at its location and previous inhabitants. Pupils are then guided ‘live’ through a series of pre-recorded videos, taking them through the process of finding artefacts on the foreshore at the Millennium Bridge. Pupils are invited to open up corresponding envelopes containing these artefacts on cards and are given the task of sorting them into material categories. Through discussion with a ‘live’ host pupils will try to work out how these objects got to be there and who may have used them. The session concludes with pupils using their new knowledge to sort the artefact cards into a timeline. The timeline also doubles as a post session game to encourage pupils to remember critical eras and events in British history.
