Freelance KS2  teachers wanted

The position

We are looking to form a partnership with 3 experienced KS2 teachers to replace long-standing members of the team who have moved out of London. This is a freelance position and the number of hours on offer depends on booking levels.

Pay

£162 per full day field study programme – maximum of six and a half hours

£105 per half day – usually two hours, maximum of three

An additional £20 for weekend and outreach work

 

About the school’s programmes

Thames Explorer is a small independent charity whose aims are to promote education about the Thames and to improve access to the river. Set up in 1989, the Trust works to further awareness of the many different roles the river plays and the variety of pressures put upon this environment. Through this, we hope that decisions made for the future of the river will be better informed.

Much of our work is with young people, particularly schools for whom we provide field studies visits, outreach programmes, teacher training and resource materials. Our field studies visits are run both from our base in Chiswick, and at 12 other locations along the Thames between Kew and Greenwich. Teaching is done by our team of freelance teachers; the post holder will become part of this teaching team. Our programmes support National Curriculum themes in Geography, Science and History with cross curricular links to other subjects.

The candidate will be trained to deliver some or all of the following:

1. KS2 Rivers & Environmental Issues programme at Kew, Chiswick and Hammersmith.
2. KS2 Investigating the Thames at Chiswick, Wapping, Greenwich, Southwark and Hammersmith
3. KS2 Archaeology at Millennium Bridge, Southwark, Wapping and Limehouse
4. GCSE/undergrad fieldwork if degree appropriate
5. Other programmes TBC
