Uber Boats by Thames Clippers – KS2 learning programme

• Pupil resources, lesson plans and PowerPoint access are covered in the total cost
• £60 for the programme plus £2.10 per child or adult for a one-way journey in either direction at any stop between Battersea Power Station and Barking Riverside.
• Example: a class of 30 pupils travelling from Westminster to Greenwich, one way, with two accompanying adults would cost: 30 x £2.10 plus £60 = £123.00
• Return tickets may be purchased at time of booking for £2.10 per pupil. No additional fee applies if the return is booked at the same time. An admin fee of £30 will be charged for any tickets booked after this date. It may be possible to purchase additional tickets at standard price on the day of travel from the pier kiosks.
• Tickets are valid for boarding only once.
• Maximum of 35 pupils and 6 adults per class. Minimum of 10 pupils.

• Please book a minimum of three weeks before your trip date to allow for pupil booklets to arrive. These are posted direct from the printer, second class. Other learning materials are available online once the booking is confirmed.
• Tickets cannot be cancelled, but can be transferred provided this is done with ten working days notice.

Please note the following before booking:

• Refunds for boat tickets can be issued 14 days before the trip date. It is not possible to refund tickets after this date. Note there is a £50 non-refundable admin cost.
• Cancellations must be made by phone AND email to us at info@thames-explorer.org.uk
• The policy covers all cancellation outcomes, including illness, strikes, transport issues or bad weather.
• Tickets will be booked on receipt of the booking form above
• Tickets are booked through Thames Clippers. Thames Explorer cannot be held responsible for delays or cancellations of individual boats. 

• You can get on any Uber boat, in either direction between Battersea Power Station and Barking Riverside.
• Tickets can be used once and are only valid for the specified day of travel.
• You do not need to specify a time of departure nor the piers you will embark/disembark from.
• Uber boats are commercial vessels available to the general public and seating cannot be guaranteed on any specific boat.
• Please note your class may not be able to sit together

Tickets can only be booked at a discount through our office. Note that, when making a telephone enquiry, you still need to complete the form above to book.

• Tickets are flexible on the day of travel, and you do not need to specify your entry/exit pier nor do you need to specify your time, (just the date of travel).
• Maximum of 35 pupils and 6 adults
• Once we have received your order, we will send you a QR code for your specified number of tickets
• Check your tickets and report any discrepancies
• Print out the QR code, as well as storing it on a smart phone – one QR code for your whole group.
• The QR code cannot be separated so your group must travel together
• Tickets are for one boarding only
• Tickets are non-transferable

When we receive your order, we will send you the link to access the lesson resources. Please check with your IT department that it is possible to access and download external resources, before booking.

Session includes:

• lesson plans for pre-visit and post-visit sessions
• link to supporting power points
• 32, 8 page, A5 work booklets to be completed on the boat. Classes over 32 pupils may need to share workbooks. These will be sent to you by post from our printer. Please allow 15 days for delivery.

School insurance policies usually cover outings however you should make sure your school policy covers this boat trip. 

We will send your invoice to your email address within 7 days of booking your trip. Please pass this to the bursar or accounts department. Invoices must be paid within 30 days.

We cannot give specific advice for coach parking or public transport. Please refer to the TfL website.

This is a self-led trip. Please bring normal outing items, including pupil workbooks, spare pencils and a bag in case of seasickness.

Please check with Uber boats about access for children with physical disabilities. You may need to differentiate the resources to suit your class.

• Most (not all) Uber boats have toilets and refreshment bars.
• Thames Explorer has worked for many years to negotiate heavily discounted tickets for pupils. Please be respectful of the vessel and staff at all times.
• Because there are many variables of locations and vessel types, Thames Explorer cannot provide a risk assessment for the trip.
• Uber Boats are generally very stable. However, in rougher weather they may rock around, therefore please make provision for motion sickness.
